Obituary

Chisholm, Judith Alexandra was taken suddenly and called home December 27, 2022 at the age of 81. Born in Cambridge on December 11, 1941 the first daughter to Katherine and Robert Shantz.

Lexia attended Central Public school in Preston, Ontario.  Lexia had hands on training at Galt hospital for aiding with babies in Obstetrics and had a deep sense for nurturing and caring of others.  She later took formal training to become a Health Care aide and was employed at Southampton Care Centre for 25+ years.

Lexia was married to Robert Hummel (deceased) and had two daughter Shelley Lewis (Don Robinson) and Lorie Carmount (Jeff).  Sadly missed by her grandchildren Jenna Merrifield (Kevin), Kirstin Collison (Chris), Ali Lewis (Jeff Salomons), Spencer Dillon (Ryan), Clint Lewis, Garrett Lewis (Seham Asfar) and Claudia Robinson and six great grandchildren Aubree, Audrey, Ella, Nora, Eli and Emberly. Survived by her (3) sisters Mary DeBrusk (Dennis), Karen Alexander (Jay) and Kathy Morrison (Rosaire) and her nieces and nephews.  Predeceased by her parents Katherine and Robert Shantz and her niece Kelly Burgess and nephew Luke DeBrusk.  Lexia was also predeceased by her second husband Bruno Borghese and her last husband Thomas Chisholm.

Over the years Lexia enjoyed singing in the church choirs, figure skating, camping at Fairway Park, golfing and being owner of a CNIB dog in training Scouty.  She felt it was a great accomplishment being the first female in the Lion’s club in Port Elgin and then became the first female President.  She enjoyed many years involved in the Lion’s club such as golf tournament, BBQ’s, conventions, Christmas hampers and hosting of Christmas caroling.

During her last year and a half at Hampton Court she enjoyed laughter with friends, bingo, exercise class with Lisa and drumming circle.

Much appreciation is expressed to the caring staff at Hampton Court, Mom’s table mates, Dr. Sue Gundrum, Dr. Stephanie Backman and Hannah (CCAC).

A Funeral mass will be held on January 3, 2023 @ 2:00p.m. at St Joseph’s  Church on Wellington Street, Port Elgin. The family has requested that facial masks be worn for the service.

As an expression of sympathy memorial donation may be made to Hampton Court or Diabetes Association.
