In Memory of
Glenna Fryer
October 21, 1930 – November 18, 2025 - Age 95

Obituary

Glenna M. Fryer (nee Parker) born October 21, 1930 in Acton to Beatrice (Blair) and Omar Parker (both deceased) died peacefully on November 18, 2025 at Guelph General Hospital.

Glenna was predeceased by her sisters Marie (1949) and Ilean Heath (2018).

Married to Norman Fryer of Acton, Glenna acutely felt his passing on November 7, 1974. Norm and Glenna were blessed with children Anne, Brenda, Wendy, Cindy and Glenn. Sons-in-law Jan Riddall (deceased 2020), Ian Walton, Franklin Reid and Ron Legault along with daughter-in-law Kelly Guthrie rounded out a family that grew to include grandchildren Michele (Ian) McLean, Corey (Anita) Riddall, Kieran Dunn, Dana (Jamie) Reid, Jamie (Melanie) Reid, Jill (Pete) Sorensen and Heath, Aidan and Casey Fryer and Autumn Guthrie. Great grandchildren Callum, Mason and Jared McLean, Ben and Eden Riddall, Everest Reid, Flo and Rae Sorensen and Hannah Guthrie have their leaves on the family tree.

Fryer brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law were many and predeceased her. Edith Fryer and Judy Varco being her remaining sisters-in-law. Nieces and nephews – on a good day she could remember all your names. She had only one “Parker” niece Heather Heath.

Glenna’s life had it’s ups and downs but she “rolled with the punches”. Some days with wit and some days with sarcasm. She was appropriately cast in a play where her only line was “get your own damn tea”.

Never one to sit with idle hands Glenna was always knitting – mittens, hats, scarves and whatever project interested her. Pickled beets, zucchini relish and chili sauce were her go to preserves to make each summer. She became the second generation Christmas pudding maker in the family.

Many days were spent in her commitment to Ontario Eastern Star Chapters in both Guelph and Port Elgin. Although she attended many different United Churches she always looked upon Stone United as her home church. There wasn’t an activity at either the Chantry Senior Centre in Southampton or the Evergreen Centre in Guelph that Glenna didn’t want to be involved in. Bus trip – sign her up!

Thanks to the staff at Stone Lodge, The Elliott and St. Joseph’s for your patience in assisting Glenna these past few years. To nurses Courtney and Val on 5 West and Dr. Cockburn in Emergency your compassion and care over the past few days is greatly appreciated.

Remember Glenna and toast her with your next cup of tea.

Cremation has taken place. A private family graveside service will take place at Fairview Cemetery, Acton.

Arrangements entrusted to Brombal Funeral Home, Guelph.
