Obituary

Kononiuk, Alec, passed away at the Southampton Hospital on Monday April 6, 2026at the age of 83.

Beloved husband to Helen Kononiuk (née Dykstra). Proud father of Scott & Marianne, Brian & Josie, Jake & Matthew. Remembered dearly by grandchildren Brandon (Brittany), Lindsay (Paul), Tyler (Claire), Dylan, and Travis (Tina) and by great grandchildren Ryker, Kinsley, Oaklyn, Lochlan, and Lilith.

Survived by his siblings Neda, Nancy, Victor (Deb), sister-in-law Janet, and by many nieces & nephews. Also remembered by Helen’s Family.

Predeceased by brother Stanley, sister Lillian and her husband Clair, and brother-in-law Nick.

A service to celebrate the life of Alec Kononiuk will be held on Friday, April 17th at 11 a.m. at the Port Elgin United Church, 840 Bruce St., Port Elgin.

If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the Saugeen Shores Hospital Foundation.
