Obituary

Berndt, Ira Belle (née Johnston), passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at the Huron Shores Hospice on Tuesday, June 23, 2026 in her 103^rd year.

Ira will be dearly missed by her family, Ron and his wife Beverley of Teeswater, Arnold and his wife Roberta of Tiverton, the late Sharon Woods, as well as Garry Woods and Cathy.

Cherished grandmother to seven grandchildren Jason (Tammy), David (Erin), Debbie (Jay), Robbie (Lisa), Sheri, Sonya (Dean), and Cory. Loved great-grandmother to Spencer, Ella, Jaxson, Amelia, Adelyn, McKenna (Tyler), Nathaniel, Rachel, Emily, Aliya, Tori (Argjend), Carson (Abby), Nash and Bella; and great great-grandmother to Kaynin. Also lovingly remembered by Kevin, Jennifer, Jessica and their families.

Survived by her sister Georgina and her husband Don MacDermid and many nieces & nephews.

Predeceased by her parents, George and Birdie Johnston and by her sister Eva Sawyer and her husband Stewart.

With heartfelt gratitude, the family wishes to thank the staff at the Tiverton Park Manor for the many years of love and care that was given to Ira. We are also grateful for the love and compassionate care that Ira received from the staff and volunteers at the Huron Shores Hospice over the past month and especially the comforting care provided to our family during this difficult time.

Visitation at the Eagleson Funeral Home, Southampton on Monday June 29, 2026 from 7 PM to 9 PM. A Funeral Service for Ira Berndt will be held in the chapel of the funeral home on Tuesday at 11 AM. Interment to follow at Sanctuary Park Cemetery, Port Elgin.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Huron Shores Hospice or to the Shiloh Community Church UB.
