Obituary

Solomon, Carol, (née Kewaquom) passed away peacefully at the Niinigiiwe Hospice Residence. Saugeen First Nation, surrounded by family on Sunday, December 7, 2025 at the age of 83.

Beloved wife to Orlyn Solomon. Dear mother to the late Sharon Lynn Isaac. Loving grandmother to Joel (Michelle), Mike (Shayla) and Kelsey.

Carol will be fondly remembered by her siblings, Marion Sharp, Armand ‘John’ Kewaquom, Francis (Grace) Kewaquom, Audrey (Jack) Caskanette, Janet (Ron) Root, Sandra (Bruce) Herney, Terry (Elaine) Kewaquom, Marilyn (Steve) Roote, and Jim (Lori) Kewaquom, and by many nieces & nephews.

Predeceased by her parents Archie and Gladys Kewaquom and by her brother William Kewaquom.

Carol was a kind, strong, and generous Anishinaabe woman who loved her family fiercely. She will be remembered and respected always for her many years of dedicated service as Band Councillor on her beloved home and community of Saugeen First Nation.

Carol, along with her husband Orlyn were the proud owners of the Little Barn Craft Shop, which they operated for many years until just recently when she entered hospital.

Carol was truly an extraordinary and exceptional lady who will be deeply and forever missed by all who knew and loved her.

Visitation at the Eagleson Funeral Home, Southampton, on Thursday December 11, 2025 from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. A Service to Celebrate the Life of Carol Solomon will be held at the James Mason Cultural Centre on Friday at 2 p.m. Spring Interment at Saugeen Village Cemetery.
