Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, aunt, cousin, and friend, Josephine “Jo” Clark.

Born in Settrington, North Yorkshire, England during World War II, Jo’s life was marked by strength, independence, and quiet courage. As a young woman, she served at RAF Holmpton as a radar operator during the Cold War, a role she carried out with pride and dedication. She married and lived in South Africa for seven years. Eventually immigrating to Canada, Jo settled in Port Elgin, where she raised two daughters. Later in life, she built a life of independence working at the CAW Family Education Centre, while forming lasting friendships that she deeply valued.

Jo touched the lives of so many with her friendship, quick wit, and fierce independence. Her kind heart and sweet smile will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at the age of 83 at Southampton Hospital, surrounded by her daughters and close friends.

Loving mother to Joanna “Jody” Clark and Jillian “Jill” Clark, Jo will also be dearly missed by her cousins in England: Patricia “Pat” Buckley and her husband Pete, and Lucy Franklin and her partner Roy, along with her many friends in Saugeen Shores.

A Service to Celebrate the Life of Josephine Clark will be held at Faith Lutheran Church, 525 Ivings Dr., Port Elgin, on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at 1:00 p.m.

We invite family and friends to join us in remembering Jo’s life by sharing condolences and memories. She will be laid to rest at Southampton Cemetery.
