Obituary

Campbell, Allister George of Burgoyne, passed quietly on Saturday, December 24 surrounded by his daughters at the Chapman House in Owen Sound in his 95 yr. He was the loving husband of Fern (2012), proud and loving father to Patricia Campbell of Southampton and Nancy Campbell of Arran Elderslie. Extremely proud of his grandchildren, Kirsten and Ben Early of Tallahassee, Florida and Jeremy McMillan and Ashley McGregor of Southampton and his great-granddaughter Ava Grace – his fist bump buddy.

A surprise diagnosis of aggressive cancer on Dec 13th set off a whirlwind of phone calls and arrangements.  The grace and provision of God aligned events perfectly. Arriving at Chapman House on Dec 16th, the staff and volunteers were outstanding – an incredible team of medical staff, support staff, moms, dads, and angels blessing us all with their care and compassion. During the two months prior, Dad was at Elgin Lodge in Port Elgin, which he enjoyed very much. The staff and residents made him feel at home.

Our focus has always been on the full life Dad lived and loved – his years farming on the family farm, working in northern Alberta clearing roads for the seismograph crew, his 25 years at the machine shop at Bruce Site and a lifetime of building, fixing, and working with his tools. His 31 years of retirement were spent in Florida with Mom, traveling around the world and many hours puttering around in his shop.

His quiet, gentle manner left the greatest impression on people.  Always willing to help and lend a hand – those adventures could fill a book or two!!

He will be greatly missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

To celebrate his life and honour his memories join us on Friday December 29th at Shoreline Baptist in Port Elgin at 1:00 p.m. for visitation, with the service to follow at 2:00 p.m.  Celebration of life to follow from 3:30 – 5:00 p.m. at Church Hall.

Come when you can, as you are, to celebrate this awesome man.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Chapman House, ALS Society, Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation, or charity of your choice would be appreciated
