December 30, 1985 – January 5, 2024 - Age 38

Obituary

Stemmler, Deiter Douglas, passed away unexpectedly on January 5th, 2024 at the age of 38. Dearly loved son of Donna McNally Stemmler and Douglas Stemmler (Jonna). Loving father to Jacob. Deiter will be missed tremendously by his brothers Barrett, and Kory , and his sisters , Kerri (Rick) and Kelsey (Johnny) , and by his partner Sarah,  all of whom supported Deiter through his struggles. Dear grandson to the late Pat McNally and the late Delphina Stemmler.

He will also be fondly remembered by Jacob’s mother Aloha, aunts, uncles, cousins, ever adoring nieces and nephews, extended step-family and beloved lifetime friends.

Deiter loved being outdoors. His passion for climbing is what has defined Deiter in recent years, although he never turned down a game of hockey in the barnyard or touch football on New Years Day. He has shared his love of climbing with many around him, including his son Jacob, and his nephews and nieces. His gentle teaching technique and leadership garnered him praise during his firefighting training too; a new challenge that he was pursuing. He was a handyman, fixing and repairing anything that he could figure out. He was a man of details, always wanting everything to be just right. And this attention to safety made him a standout at Delta. Deiter loved the river, loved good food, loved the company of family round a bonfire, and loved a good campout. An ideal day for Deiter would include a relaxing run, climbing with Jake and friends, and a  game session till the wee hours of the morning. Even though our hearts are broken we know he is at peace. The family is very grateful for the words of condolences, and compassion at his passing.

Following cremation, the family will be hosting a celebration of life at the Lakeshore Racquet Club in Port Elgin on Saturday January 20th, 2024, 1-4 pm.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Deiter’s name to a Trust Fund for Jacob by e-transfer to
