Obituary

Donna Audrey Berlet

Donna Audrey Berlet (Austen) passed away into the arms of the Lord at London Health
Sciences Centre on July 26, 2021.

Donna was born in the Guelph area and moved to London for university. After marriage Donna enjoyed a full life with her husband, Fred. Kitchener, Tillsonburg, and finally Port Elgin became their homes. Friends and family have warm memories of Donna’s involvement in each community.
She leaves behind her husband of 67 years, and her four children: Debra (Greg Beddoes) of Calgary Alberta, David (LeeAnn) of London, Susan (Graham O’Connell) of Tillsonburg, and Gregory (Diane) of Westerville, OH.

Her grandchildren will miss their Mimi’s smile: Jordan Milne (Christa) and Megan Parker (Jordan) of Calgary; Joelle Berlet of Toronto; Cody Vandommele (Natalie) of Grimsby, Cale Vandommele (Angela) of Cambridge, Conor Vandommele (Amanda) of Sarnia, Callie Berlet of Hamilton; Logan Berlet (Zach) of St. Louis, MO, Jenna Berlet of Columbus, OH. Donna was a great grandmother to 7 great grandchildren. Predeceased by grandson Austen Berlet (2009)

Donna attended the University of Western Ontario where she met Frederick Berlet. After
marrying and having her 4 children, she immersed herself into volunteer work in Tillsonburg. She coordinated Sunday School Programs at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, was a Volunteer coordinator of the Candy Stripe Program at TDMH, she sat on the Tillsonburg Recreational Committee and was named Tillsonburg’s Citizen of the Year in 1987. She also maintained an active role in a duplicate bridge club in Tillsonburg even after the cottage in Port Elgin became their home.

Donna was also known for her classic fashion sense and vibrant decorating ability. Travel,
tennis in Southampton, Ontario and in Naples, Florida. Skiing in Canada, U.S. and Europe were avid passions of Donna and she found friends in every activity that she undertook.

You can rest now Mom. God knows that you have earned that. You fought a battle against a cruel disease, and though our hearts are saddened by your leaving, the peace that now finds you helps ease the pain of the void that you leave behind. Our worlds are a better place because you were a part of it.
We love you Mom, and always will.

Cremation has taken place and a private family burial has been arranged.
