Helen Elizabeth Shave (nee Thompson) passed away peacefully with family by her side on Sunday, October 24, 2021 in her 105th year. Predeceased by her parents Nellie and William Thompson, loving sister Kathleen Stevens and brother in-law Eric Stevens, daughter in-law Heather Thompson and husbands Eugene, Richard and Hugh. Survived and beloved by sons Paul (Bonnie) Thompson of Fonthill and Bob (Nancy) Thompson of Burlington; daughters Nancy McGrath of Southampton and Margaret (George) Norman of Thunder Bay; grandchildren Lisa and Serra; great grandchildren Zachary and Luca.
Helen loved life and enjoyed lending a helping hand to all. She spent her younger days working at Eaton’s and then later in life working in a doctor’s office. She enjoyed time with the Chambettes of Southampton and with church activities at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Southampton.
She kept busy with curling, swimming and exercise classes; bridge, euchre, reading and crocheting.
Her later years in life were spent at Brucelea Haven, Walkerton. The family wishes to thank all the caring and wonderful staff at Brucelea Haven and to Dr. Gill.
Special thanks to nephew Scott (Darlene) Stevens of Kincardine for all the wonderful things you have done over the years for mom.
Mom survived two pandemics, three husbands and raising four children but in the end time caught up with her. Now she is at rest.
Cremation has taken place and a graveside service will be held at a later date.
Should friends desire, memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke foundation, St. Paul’s Anglican church, Southampton or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
