Service Summary

Family and close friends are invited to Sanctuary Park Cemetery, Port Elgin for a graveside service on Saturday May 7, 2022 at 11 a.m.

A celebration of life gathering will be held at the Port Elgin Legion on Saturday May 7, 2022 from 12 - 2 p.m.

Berner, Edna Jean (nee Clazie) passed away suddenly, due to a traffic accident in Guelph, January 25, 2022.

Jean is survived by her husband Dennis and her sons Andrew (Katrina) and Alec (Brittany).  She will be dearly missed by her grandchildren Mason, Rosalee, Levi, Eleanor, Isabel and Lincoln.

She is also survived by her mother, Edna Clazie; mother in law Shirley Berner; and siblings Cathy (Wally) Brown, sister in law Julie (Bob) Young, Marj (Fred) Cook, and David (Peggy) Clazie.  Jean is also lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Jean is predeceased by her father, James Clazie; father in law Ted Berner; brother John Clazie; brother in law Jamie Malcolm; sister in law Tammy Berner and granddaughter Stella Berner.

Jean was born and raised her family in Saugeen Shores.  She had a successful career with Ontario Hydro and Ontario Power Generation.  She enjoyed many hours of volunteering in her community during her retirement.  She was actively involved with helping a Syrian Refugee family settle into their new life in Canada.  She was also the family genealogist.  She enjoyed spending many hours researching her family history. The Clazie family cottage on the Saugeen River held special memories for Jean.

Jean’s love for her grandchildren was shown in many ways.  She made beautifully crafted gifts for each child and she enjoyed doing special craft projects with the kids.

Jean and her special canine friend Daisy were known by many in her neighbourhood.  Jean always enjoyed taking the time to chat to neighbours she met on her daily walks.

A celebration of life gathering will be held at the Port Elgin Legion on Saturday May 7, 2022 from 12 – 2 p.m.
