Obituary

‘Lou’ passed away peacefully at the Hanover & District Hospital on Sunday January 31, 2021. Lou Seyler of Southampton and formerly of Sarnia was 92.

Beloved husband to Jeanne Seyler (nee Wildfang) for 70 years. Proud father of Scott Seyler and his wife Margaret, Debra Seyler, and Cindy and her husband Ray Russwurm. Loving grandfather to Ben, Lauren, and Eric, and Ashley (Alex), Breanne (Nick), and Jaime (Gavin), and great grandfather of six. Survived by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Henry & Hermina Seyler, by his siblings Hazel, Robert, and Floyd.

Lou grew up in Tavistock, the youngest of four children. He met Jeanne while working at Equitable Life in Waterloo and they married shortly afterwards. Lou worked for Fiberglas Canada as an accountant and senior financial officer for nearly 40 years, living and helping to raise their family in several cities across the country before retiring to Southampton. In his spare time Lou enjoyed tennis, golf, barbecuing, volunteering as a church elder and treasurer and serving on the hospital board.

Lou was a kind and gentle man and his warmth, love and humour will be dearly missed by his wife, children and friends.

Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service to Celebrate the Life of Lou Seyler will be held at a later date when gatherings are permitted.
