In Memory of
Mark Rathwell
March 11, 1953 – May 29, 2024 - Age 71

Obituary

On Wednesday, May 29, 2024, after a short battle with cancer, Mark Allan Rathwell passed peacefully and met his Saviour and Lord Jesus Christ face to face.   Mark is survived by his wife and best friend of 45+ years, Crystal.  Sons: Tyler and his wife Kirsten; Chad and his wife, Joy and Barrett (grandson); Wade and his wife, Krista and Lena and Daphne (granddaughters).

Mark was born in Goderich March 11, 1953, he was the youngest of 5 children. Though Mark was a good student, school was boring to him. Dropping out of school was one of several unwise decisions he made as a teen, some of these unwise decisions landed him in serious trouble, but, on September 24, 1973, Mark surrendered his life to the Lord Jesus Christ and changed his life.  He finished high school, went to university, and Heritage Bible School earning his doctorate of divinity.  Mark’s passion was to deepen his relationship with Jesus Christ.  Mark was involved in many endeavors, too many to mention.  One of his favourite endeavors was to preach and teach God’s Word.  He was a passionate defender of the faith. A favourite pass time was to cheer on and defend his Detroit Lions. Mark was happiest when working on a project, the bigger the better.  He converted a Hyundai Elantra, and he and Crystal car camped across Canada, in 2018, to celebrate their 40th anniversary. In all of Mark’s pursuits, his highest pursuit was to be a Godly example to his sons, to love his wife as Christ loved the Church, and to deepen his relationship with Jesus Christ.  Mark was promoted to glory, having completed his mission.

A Memorial Service for Mark Rathwell will be held at the First Baptist Church, 58 Division St., Kingsville, on June 22, 2024 at 11 a.m.
