Mary Jean McMillan
August 6, 1945 – May 16, 2024 - Age 78

Obituary

Mary Jean McMillan (nee McCulloch) passed away peacefully at the Southampton Hospital with family by her side on May 16th, 2024 in her 79th year. Beloved wife, partner and best friend of Jay Dee McMillan for 61 years. Mary Jean and Jay Dee enjoyed their life in Southampton raising their boys, seeing their family grow with the addition of spouses, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved to run with Jay Dee along the shore between Southampton and Port Elgin and the streets around their home in Florida. She entered a number of 5, 10 and 21km races often placing near the top or winning her age group. She was an avid knitter and could often be found with a set of knitting needles or crochet hooks making baby outfits, sweaters, blankets, socks for the entire family. She loved to travel with Jay Dee, with him saying if the wheels are going, she is ready go. She worked alongside Jay Dee as they built a great life together building a family, building houses and building a wonderful life together.

Mary Jean will be missed by her sons, Stephen (Annie) of RR2 Port Elgin, Kevin of Owen Sound, Kelvin (Mary Ann) and Jason (Tammie) both of Port Elgin. Sadly missed by her grandchildren, Kirsten (Ben), Jeremy (Ashley), Tabitha (Wyatt), Tyler, Taylor, Riley, Josh, Ben (Tyler), Zach (Amanda), Jacob (Jessie), Joe (Hanna), Mary (Connor), Hannah (Taylor), Caleb (Ashley), Rachel (Matt), Rebekah (Lauren) great-grandchildren Ava, Vivian, Veronica, Henrik, Sunny, Gus, Charlie, Ellis, and Toby. She is survived by her brother James McCulloch of Southampton and sister-in-law Adeline Bell of Owen Sound and her many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her mother and father Harry and Nellie Mea McCulloch, Brothers Jack, Bill, Doug, Fred, Sister Florence, by sister-in -laws Shirley, Lorraine, Margory, Susanne.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at the Eagleson Funeral Home, Southampton, on Saturday May 25, 2024 at 1 p.m. with visitation beginning at 12 noon. A Time of fellowship and refreshment will follow at the funeral home. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Grey Bruce.
