Obituary

Peter Daniel Krane, in his 68th year, passed away peacefully at home in Port Elgin with his family by his side, after a courageous battle with cancer. Never once did he complain while keeping his sense of humour and love of music right up to the end.

Survived by his loving wife and best friend, Sally (nee Fenton). Proud Father of Angie (Ben) Wilke, David (Lisa) and Michael (Leah).

Loving Grandfather of Quinten, Elijah, Chloe, Finn, Cohen, Lexis, Paxton and Zoe, who held a special place in his heart.

Siblings Mary Ellen, John (Darlene), Rosemary (Jim) Rafferty, Steven (Tracy), Brother-in law John Butler, and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Steve and Mary Fenton. Will also be missed by his many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Also much loved by his in-laws, Murray and Patricia Fenton who were like second parents to him.

Predeceased by parents, William and Mary Krane, sister Barbara Krane-Nash, and sister Anne Butler.

Peter’s life was one of true fulfillment. He will be remembered for his infectious positivity, subtle charm and zest for life. Peter truly enjoyed the company of others; always going out of his way to make everyone feel welcome, while taking great joy in the act of helping others. People of Port Elgin will remember him running through town, rain or shine, summer or winter. Driven by his passions, he was always happiest on the water, enjoying his boat with friends and family. A truly unique man. Loved by many. One of a kind, “The Good Captain”.

A gathering to celebrate Peter’s life will be held on Saturday, January 14th from 2:00-5:00pm at the Queens Bar and Grill in Port Elgin.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or a Charity of your choice would be welcome.
