Obituary

On March 25th, 2024 at the Southampton Care Center Susanne Elizabeth Bell (nee Kennedy) passed away quietly in her 85th year.  She is predeceased by her mother Phyllis Kennedy, her husband William ‘Bill’ Bell, her brother-in-law’s John ‘Jack’ Bell, Douglas Bell, Fredrick ‘Fred’ McCulloch, sister-in-law Florence Curry (nee Bell), nephews Lorne Bell and Daniel Bell and her niece Mary Lou McVery (nee Wilson).  She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law Jay Dee and Mary Jean McMillan (nee McCulloch), her sister-in-law Adeline (Mrs Douglas) Bell (nee McMillan) and brother-in-law James ‘Jim’ McCulloch, nephews Robert ‘Bob” Wilson, Murray Curry, Cal McVey, David Bell, Douglas Bell, Stephen McMillan, Kevin McMillan, Kelvin McMillan, Jason McMillan and Michael McCulloch, nieces Shirley Taylor (nee Bell), Louise Bell, Yvonne Bell.

Susanne was a lifelong resident of Southampton and grew up in her family home with her grandparents and her mother.  She started dating her soon to be husband and they continued to reside in the family home.  Susanne enjoyed many, many hours with her mother Phyllis with the two of them knitting, quilting  and sewing  together while her husband Bill was often seen working around their  house on many different projects.  One favourite  past time for the three of them was Saturday outings to find bargains or more patterns for making things, stocking up on yarn or bolts of material.

One of Susanne’s greatest joys was when she wrote her Chatterbox weekly column for the Beacon Times with many short snippets of local events that covered everything from afternoon tea parties to local residents taking exotic vacation.  It was her way of contributing to her community.

In lieu of flowers donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated. Private arrangements have been made for interment by Eagleson Funeral Home.
