Obituary

“It is with immense sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved Sister and Aunt, Helen Ann Hamilton D’Souza on December 23, 2021 in Southampton, Ontario, Canada.

Helen was in her 88th year. Helen moved to Port Elgin in 1974 from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Helen loved Southampton and chose to spend her retirement years there. Helen had many good friends in the Southampton/Port Elgin area and her family would like to take this opportunity to extend our gratitude to them for surrounding her with their support and love. Helen was the matriarch of the D’Souza family.  When her father passed away, Helen worked to support her mother and her two younger brothers. Helen worked for Glaxo Pharmaceuticals in Karachi Pakistan prior to her immigration to Canada in 1971. She worked as a Nurse’s Aid for the Southampton nursing home for 20+ years. Helen leaves behind her Brothers Tony and Henry, Brother-in-Law Charles Anderson, as well as 18 nieces/nephews and 26 grandnieces/grandnephews that adored her for being the loving Aunt/Nana she was. Helen never married and treated her nephews and nieces like her own children. She had a generous heart and a great sense of humor. Helen is preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Lena Hamilton D’Souza; Her Sisters, Dorothy Perkins, Jean Anderson, Celine Anthony, and her nephews, Troy Anderson and Carlos Perkins.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the local Hospice or the Alzheimer’s Association. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Port Elgin, Ontario on June 24th at 2 pm.
