Service Summary

There will be a visitation on Saturday, August 6 from 2 – 4 pm at the Eagleson Funeral Home in Southampton.  A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, August 7 starting at 2:30 pm at the Southampton United Church. A celebration of life gathering will follow at the Southampton Legion. All events are to be “casual and fun” as directed by Marilyn Smith.

Smith, Marilyn Anne (nee Sutcliffe) of Southampton formerly of Hepworth December 28, 1947- July 28, 2022.  To know her was to love her and be loved by her. She was the sweetest and most compassionate person you could ever meet. Two things the family is certain of; she will be forever loved and cherished and she will forever be a red head.

Cherished wife and best friend of Clayton Smith.

Loving mother of Richard Major (Karen) of Hepworth, Deanne Major of Cambridge, Kylie Portaccio of Cambridge, special mom of Sue Hussey of Cambridge and Irv (Sandra) Bowie of Cambridge and special step-mom of Andrea Monteith (Jim) of London and Lee Berner (Paul) of Owen Sound.

Loving Gramma to Sabrina, Nicholas, James, Joshua, Samantha, Andrew, Kearney, Keltia, Jaxson, Deborah (Brian), Lindsay, Angela (Cris), Carissa (Rob) and Jake.

Special Great-Gramma to Keegan, Taylor, AnnaLisa, Austen, Autumn, Hazel, Anthony, Luca, Joe, and Matteo.

Sister-in-law to Morris Smith.

Loving sister to Brad Sutcliffe (June), Gwen Davis, Richard Hoare (Ann), Wendell Sutcliffe (Elaine), Paul Sutcliffe, Tom Sutcliffe (Pam), Brenda Galbraith (Butch)

Predeceased by parents Peg and Hugh Sutcliffe, brother Ron Sutcliffe (Helene), sisters Cheryl Bartlett, Verl McLay, brothers-in-law Hugh McLay, Bill Masterson, Fred Davis, Bill Bartlett, sister-in-law Susan Sutcliffe, granddaughter Lisa Monteith, special daughter Julie Bowie-Rocha.

Will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews and cousins, friends, and all of the children who called her ‘Meme’.

If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Gene Goodreau Patient Assistance Fund at London Health Sciences Centre. This fund if for helping cancer patients when they need it most. Through this fund, financial support is available to cancer patients for emergency, short-term situations when funding from other sources is not available.
